Oxford – The University Town

Yeah! finally arrived.

The Bodleian Library is one of the oldest libraries in Europe and is said to contain every copy of books that were ever published!

The Divinity School Entrance in the Bodleian Library.

The Radcliffe Camera was built between 1737 and 1749.

Climbing up the church tower of St Mary the virgin.

After many many steps ... finally reach the top.

Taking a stroll thru Oxford Canal.

We had initially planned to try something different this time by being more adventurous and doing everything impromptu. We ended up not being able to find accomodation for the night as all the hostels were fully booked when we least expect. We took a gamble and decided to take a train from Oxford to a small town called Moreton-in-Marsh which is part of Cotswold. When we arrived, everywhere was closed (its only 10 plus on a Saturday night but it looks like a dead town) and fully booked but luckily, a kind couple who runs a B&B was willing to let us spend a night in their living room even though they had no more vacancies. So this is what you get impromptu….

The couple set up a makeshift bed for us.

This is the front door of the B&B we stayed the night before. Acacia Bed & Breakfast is quite near to the train station

There is a reason why we chose to come to Moreton-in-Marsh because there is bus service to go out to the Cotswold which is the picturesque countryside of England. However, much to our dismay, there is no bus service on Sunday! I guess we don’t have  ANY luck when it comes to impromptu traveling so we shall stick to our well planned itinerary for future trips. Still, we took the opportunity to explore the area.

Small and peaceful town...

We took some pictures by the country side before heading back to Oxford.

Decided to take a peek into Oxford Castle!

Yee and her two 'friends' were listening to the tour guide explaining about the history and haunted stories of Oxford Castle in the dungeon.

This camera here takes mug shots which makes us look like pathetic criminals hahah...

Time-Robber!

Hamster-Killer!

What the inmates wore..but i think she wear salah already...wrong way round

i'm still waiting to be released...

Outside view of Oxford Castle....some of the old jail cells were converted into apartments

This beautiful garden is situated just outside of Christ Church Cathedral.

The courtyard of Christ Church Cathedral.

Hope you guys enjoy the historical places in Oxford. It really is like a university town where most of the buildings/attractions are mainly for students. Till then, see ya!
