From Manchester Piccadilly Station, we took a train further up north to Windermere via Oxenholme Lake District Station. Lake Windermere is the largest natural lake in England.

We were happily deciding what’s for supper when we get back to London. Unfortunately, our train stopped at Wigan due to apparent signal failure. It was later found out that the signal failure was caused by vandalism at Weaver Junction. Anyhow, it created massive delays and much trouble for the many commuters heading back south. We had to take alternative train heading to Birmingham and halfway thru our journey was told to drop off at Crewe instead. All of us ended up stranded in the cold for more than an hour before our train for London finally came. We arrived 4 hours later than expected but thankfully cab service was arranged to take us home. We came home half past 3 in the morning dead beaten.
