From Lisboa, Sintra is only 40 mins away westwards by train. It has become a popular tourist attraction and is a must-see place when you visit Lisboa. Usually people would just hop on the shuttle bus that runs through some of the sights and attractions from the town centre on the way up to the Pena Palace, but feeling somewhat adventurous, we decided to trek our way up half thinking it shouldn’t take too long…
BAD IDEA… we ended up walking for hours feeling tired, sweaty and thirsty. I guess we kinda underestimate the distance and reminded ourselves to take the shuttle bus down later haha….but the view from the top was truly worth it!
The Palacio Nacional de Sintra at the background
Moorish Fountain
A view of the Historical city centre with the Castelo dos Mouros on top of the hill
Palacio da Regaleira
taking a rest in the Park of Pena
first sighting of the Pena Palace
Far view of the Castelo dos Mouros from the Pena Palace
Bronze warrior statue on the way to the up another hill
At the Cruz Alta (High Cross) view point we can see the Pena Palace in the distance
The Cruz Alta is carved in stone and the viewpoint is the highest place on the Sintra Hills
Next off, we will be taking the night train to Madrid, Spain!
j and yee signing off!
