In our Lonely Planet guide, we had read about the ‘Romantic Road’ of Germany, a route that highlights walled towns and picturesque villages in western Bavaria from Würzburg to Füssen. The spectacular train journey of the Oslo to Bergen railway brings us to the city famous for the Bryggen Hanseatic Wharf, the Fish Market, and surrounding mountains and fjords, such as the Hardangerfjord and Sognefjord.
