We were thinking… maybe the above URL would be more suitable for our blog. Since, we didn’t really blog according to the timeline. There were so many things we wanted to blog about but we were just pushing the responsibility to one another. It’s funny that we are both designers yet the idea of resizing through tons of photos and uploading it just puts us off. However, deep down we know that we have to keep this blog alive as it is a jotterbook about our rather adventurous Work-Holiday journey here; a definite milestone/highlight of both of our lives.
(Somehow, after vetting thru the first paragraph repeatedly, it’s strangely solemn. Hmm…)
Anyway, as the url suggest… only read this if you are fond of History.
I am a genius…
I just saved 140 pounds =). On top of the heartache of having lost some precious data, why pay that amount of money for someone to do a 10 mins job?
All you need is a swanky new hard disk which I got from amazon.com (which includes free delivery), a little bit of tech geek instinct and a dose of youtube and waaalaaa…
My macbook resurrected from the dead.
It was soaking wet…
on the day of the premiere of Harry Potter and the half blood prince. At some point of the day, it was even hailing.
I wasn’t there at the beginning of the premiere but I managed to catch a glimpse of some of the cast and celebrities at the premiere like Harry (Daniel Radcliffe), Minerva McGonagall (Maggie Smith), Luna Lovegood (Evanna Lynch), Celebrity Chef Gordon Ramsey etc. A pity I didn’t get to see Ron and Hermione.
Here’s a video for those who likes Draco (Tom Felton)
Doors to wonderland?
An oddly entrance found in the middle of an otherwise shopping district of Regent Street into every kid’s dream. J wanted to make a visit to Hamley’s. However, we were less than impressed after we stepped in. It wasn’t as magical/fairytale-like on the inside. Quite a typical toy departmental store… a little run down in fact…
I shall not complain about SMRT
I took 2hrs 45mins taking the bus to reach work that day while J took 2hrs 30mins. Normally, we would take only an hour or so with the tube to reach our work place. The seemingly never-ending journey on the bus is a pain and the chaotic crowd at the bus stop was overwhelming. However, as a typical Singaporean, in the midst of the chaos, you can’t help but take a step back and look at the situation you are experiencing and find the whole experience rather amusing to you and to a certain extent, you feel a little excited being part of the millions of commuters being stranded. I mean, let’s not talk about strike…SMRT will never close the entire east-bound line due to engineering works. Whereas here…during the weekends especially…there tend to be engineering works going on. (Eg the entire Jubilee line tends to fail almost every weekend.) Sg is like a safe cradle, everything is almost perfect. I must admit I feel fortunate to be born in Sg. It is something both J and I realize since we’ve been here but at the same time, you can’t help but feel intrigued by the dysfunct side of London. Take my painfully long bus ride that day as an example, none of the bells in the bus were working. Then, there was this very righteous old lady standing near the back door who started to take things under her hands. Whenever someone approaches near the door, she would shout across the bus to the bus driver “Someone is getting down!” “Someone is getting down!” and she will assure everyone waiting at every approaching bus stops that this is the replacement bus service to Oxford Circus. I must thank that feisty old lady who kept me upbeat thru part of my treacherous ride that day. Sometimes, perfection may not be interesting.
Lastly…
Who is J sending a mail to?
Signing out, I am craving for carrot cake, Yee
